Belle Rae Farms
About Belle Rae Farms
Belle Rae Farms is a continuation of the prominent AKC show kennel,
Shamrock Kennels, that specialized in golden retrievers and beagles.
As Shamrock Kennels, Dusty and Pat Smith (my parents) had many AKC dogs
come home championed and created phenomenal champion lines that still exist
today. Shamrock Kennels closed when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer
and could not give proper attention to her twenty plus dogs or continue the show circuits. She then placed her remaining show dogs with friends and fellow show kennels where they remained for many years as family pets (most having died from old age in the past couple of years).
As a child, I spent most of my time in the show ring with my mother and father. I loved to travel around the Southeast with my pets and watch both my parents and my dogs do what they love. As I got older and had to focus my attention and school and sports (competitive dance and gymnastics), I had to pull myself away from the show ring. It was necessary, but it is something I will forever miss. In 2015, our neighbor and close friend passed away and left my parents fifteen acres (a continuation of the fifty acres of Shamrock Kennels). We, as a family, decided this was my opportunity to move to the new property and start up my own little farm (a lifelong goal of mine). Today, Belle Rae farms is home to two horses, a mini pony, several dogs (including rescues), a special needs bull, and his mini donkey companion.
As 2016 was a year of finalizing plans and remodeling the property, 2017 is
our year for growth! Within this year, I plan on expanding my business to include
Great Pyrenees and specialty livestock (Nigerian dwarf goats), as well as keeping with
our beagle and shih tzu litters annually.
Shamrock Kennels prided itself on its lasting relationships with its customers
(and their pets!) and Belle Rae Farms would like to do the same.
